In preparation for their performance at Orchestra Hall in Chicago, the University of Iowa Symphony will perform in the Voxman Music Building’s Concert Hall with a program featuring music by Grainger, Michele Fernández, Richard Strauss, Jaromir Weinberger, Ivan Trevino, and Morten Lauridsen. The concert is free of charge and The University of Iowa School of Music will livestream this performance for those who cannot be in attendance.

CALEB J. ESTRADA-VALENTÍN, flute, performs on the opening concert of The University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra’s 2024-25 Concert Series. The program features Andy Akiho’s TRANSLUCENT, Georg Phillip Telemann’s Oboe Concerto in C minor, TWV 51:c1, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64. CALEB J. ESTRADA-VALENTÍN, flute, will premiere Súile Foaroise for unaccompanied flute by BLAKE CORDELL in The University of Iowa Composition Studio’s annual 24+24 Concert. The concert’s program features 9 new works written in 24 hours by composers in The University of Iowa Composition Studio. These composers collaborated with 9 instrumentalists and vocalists to learn and prepare the pieces in 24 hours for Sunday’s concert. The concert is free of charge and The University of Iowa School of Music will livestream this performance for those who cannot be in attendance.

CALEB J. ESTRADA-VALENTÍN, flute, and GRETCHEN BRUMWELL, harp, will perform Jacques Ibert’s Entr’acte during the Five Seasons Festival’s Flute & Harp Recital. Although the performance will not be livestreamed, it is free and open to the public.
